Togo – Government legislates for innovation: The Togolese government has just adopted a bill to strengthen technological and digital innovation.

Togo – Government legislates for innovation
This draft bill, relating to the development of the innovation ecosystem was adopted by the executive, meeting in Council of Ministers. It should notably put in place a tax and customs incentive regime, to encourage the adoption and development of digital technology.
It aims in particular to promote the innovation ecosystem in Togo, by establishing a labeling mechanism for start-ups and companies in the field of Tech.
According to the government, this labeling will be done, with regard to objective criteria that will be based on creativity, innovation, the creation of high added value, as well as the growth potential.
If validated by the National Assembly, the text will aim to create an environment conducive to the modernization of the Togolese economy, particularly through the development of digital activities in the public and private sectors for the benefit of citizens and businesses.
